Build a Bio Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-01 Hosted at: buildabio.com/terms

These terms govern your use of Build a Bio ("the Service"), the link-in-bio builder at buildabio.com. The Service is operated by Jen Built It LLC ("we," "us," "our"), a US limited liability company with a mailing address at 10800 S Lloyd Drive, Worth, IL 60482, USA. By publishing a bio or purchasing a Pro plan, you ("you") agree to these terms.

If you don't agree to these terms, don't publish a bio or buy a plan.

1. What the Service Is

Build a Bio lets you create a link-in-bio page and publish it on our domain (for example buildabio.com/b/your-name or a /view/ address). You can also embed your bio on your own site. The free tier is a real, working product. Pro adds more room and more control, described in Section 3.

2. Your Account

There is no password. Your bio is tied to the email address you enter when you publish, and you edit it through magic links we email you on request.

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live.
  • Use an email address you actually control. The email on the bio is the owner of the bio, full stop. If you lose access to that inbox, we can't hand the bio to a different address without verification we're comfortable with.
  • Don't forward or share your edit links. Anyone holding a valid edit link can change or delete your bio.

How we handle the data involved is covered by our Privacy Policy.

3. Free and Pro Plans

  • Free costs $0 and includes everything you need to publish a working bio page.
  • Pro costs $9/month or $69/year, is tied to your email address, and covers up to 10 bios on that email. It adds more link room, a featured card, fonts, full colors, your own /b/ link, your logo, click analytics, and badge removal.

Billing runs through Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

  • Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from your billing page; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
  • If a payment fails or is refunded, the Pro features tied to that payment turn off. Refunding one billing cycle reverses only that cycle.
  • If you believe a charge is wrong, contact us at the email in Section 10 before disputing it with your bank. We fix real mistakes.
  • Prices may change. If they do, the change applies at your next renewal, never mid-cycle, and the live pricing page is the price that counts.

4. Your Content

You own what you put in your bio: your name, tagline, links, handles, and any logo you upload. By publishing, you give us the limited license we need to host it, display it at its public address, render share cards for it, and serve it in embeds. That license ends when you delete the bio.

You're responsible for what your bio contains and where its links go. Don't publish:

  • Content you don't have the right to use (someone else's name, brand, images, or work presented as yours)
  • Links to malware, phishing, scams, or deceptive checkout flows
  • Content that is illegal, that sexualizes minors, or that harasses or threatens a specific person
  • Impersonation of another person or business
  • Spam networks, link farms, or bios created by automation at volume

If your links promote products for a commission, disclose it. The FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) apply to your page even though we host it.

5. What We Can Remove

We can unpublish or delete any bio that violates Section 4, harms other users, or creates legal risk for us, without notice if the situation calls for it. For anything borderline we'll try email first, using the address on the bio. We may also reclaim /b/ slugs that impersonate someone, squat on a brand, or sit on a reserved word.

6. Our Property

The Service itself, its design, its code, its mascots, and the Build a Bio name belong to Jen Built It LLC. These terms don't give you any right to use them outside your own hosted bio page.

7. Uptime and Changes

We work to keep the Service fast and available, and we don't promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or retire features. If we ever retire the Service itself, we'll give paying users reasonable notice and a way to get their content out.

8. Disclaimers and Limits

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill.
  • Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50 if you paid nothing.

Some states don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Termination

You can delete your bio at any time through the delete flow, which is the end of the relationship. We can suspend or terminate access as described in Section 5. Sections 4, 6, 8, and 11 survive termination.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms: privacy@jenbuiltit.com, or by mail at Jen Built It LLC, 10800 S Lloyd Drive, Worth, IL 60482, USA.

11. Governing Law and Changes to These Terms

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, for material changes affecting paid plans, email the address on file before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
